School Chef

Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm is looking for an experienced chef to plan and prepare healthy, organic meals for approximately 100 students, utilizing produce from our biodynamic farm. The ideal candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience, be HACCP/Serve Safe certified, enjoy working as part of a team and with students, and be a strong proponent of organic and local foods and aligned with our farm-to-school model. This is a non-exempt, full time hourly position, excluding weeks off for holidays (one week in November, two weeks in December, one week in February and two weeks in April) and summer (mid-June to mid-August).

Physical Requirements for Employees at SWSF:

Summerfield is both a school and farm. Though we do have paved pathways between various buildings, many pathways are unpaved and rough. Some have steep inclines and declines, steps and holes.

Employees must have the ability to:

  • Stand and walk on various-density and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time and significant lengths;
  • Reach overhead, grasp, push/pull up to 35 pounds for short distances;
  • Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. at waist height for short distances.
