Circus Waldissima
Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm is one of the few Waldorf schools in North America with a full circus arts program. We are also fortunate enough to have our very own European big-top circus tent! This fun and fantastic program is led by Sieglinde and Don Basmajian, both experienced Waldorf and circus arts instructors.
Summerfield students G3-12 participate in circus arts classes as part of the physical education program during part of the school year. Students learn circus skills including juggling, clowning, tumbling, trapeze, aerial, and more! They also prepare for and perform all the skills they learn in a Circus Show in the Spring.
We also offer these two fantastic ways for students and children in the local community (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC) to experience the excitement of our Circus Waldissima program:
Circus Club After-School Program (G3-12)
Circus Waldissima offers after-school circus classes (G3-12) through our Circus Club program, which are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Classes include: Circus Skills, Mixed Aerial Arts, Unicycle, Juggling, Tumbling, Teen Silks, and Trapeze. We also have an advanced performance group, Cabaret, who put together their own Spring show along with professional circus arts guest performers.
Circus Club Sessions during the school year:
Fall Session: Sept 7-Dec 5 , concluding with a performance at Summerfield’s Winter Faire
Spring Session: Jan-March, dates TBC), concluding with Circus Weekend Spring Extravaganza

Summer Circus Camp (Ages 6-8 & 9-14)
Run away and join the circus this summer! Dust off your juggling balls, shake out your leotards and get ready for three weeks of acrobatic fun, led by experienced circus arts instructor, Rose MacDonald and a talented team of circus instructors. Please Note: Circus Camp is offered as two age-specific programs (ages 6-8 years and ages 9-14 years).
