High School Eurythmy Teacher

The Summerfield Waldorf School & Farm High School is seeking a part-time Eurythmy Teacher to join our High School faculty starting August 2024. The successful candidate will have a deep interest in, and commitment to, working with the developmental arc that spans 9th-12th grades.

The ideal candidate would bring the following to the position:

  • Extensive experience in teaching Eurythmy to high school students;
  • The ability to hold students to a high standard in the classroom;
  • The capacity to create a harmonious and disciplined environment in which students can thrive and learn;
  • A strong capacity to organize;
  • Warmth, clarity of thought, and objectivity in interpersonal communications with colleagues and students;
  • A colleague who understands the importance of imagination and artistry, and who has the desire to be a collaborative part of an experienced and committed faculty in a well-established and innovative environment;
  • The ability to create, within an academic and artistic subject, a dynamic, grounded, flexible, empathetic foundation through a strong sense of initiative, colleagueship and collaboration.

Eurythmy classes are scheduled twice a week for individual grades for a total of eight (8) lessons a week. An experienced accompanist will be part of a strong, collaborative working environment during all Eurythmy classes and performances. In addition, there is a yearly performance component in the spring, in which our 12th grade prepares and performs a Eurythmy story for the lower school. This is given significant, additional class time to prepare.

Additional opportunities could include, but are not limited to: providing private Therapeutic Eurythmy sessions, teaching adult education, and/or building a Eurythmy Troupe.

Qualifications:

  • Eurythmy diploma recognized by the Goetheanum;
  • A deep understanding of Eurythmy;
  • A commitment to Waldorf principles and Anthroposophy;
  • A commitment to upholding an environment that embraces multicultural awareness, equity, inclusion and diversity.

Salary & Benefits: The full-time salary range is $66,500-$80,000 depending on experience. A generous benefits package is available to employees what are at least .75FTE.

Physical Requirements:

Summerfield is both a school and farm. Though we do have paved pathways between various buildings, many pathways are unpaved and rough. Some have steep inclines and declines, steps and holes.

Employees must have the ability to:

  • Navigate various-density and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time and significant lengths;
  • Stand and/or sit for extended periods of time;
  • Use a computer for extended periods of time;
  • Squat, stoop and/or bend over;
  • Reach overhead, grasp, push/pull up to 35 pounds for short distances;
  • Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. at waist height for short distances.
