Preschool Aftercare Lead Teacher
Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm is seeking a Preschool Aftercare Lead Teacher who will be responsible for the care of ten preschool children, ages 2 to 4, in our afternoon lunch and nap program, from 12:30 until 5:00 pm every weekday. This position is approximately 29 hours per week and is paid at an hourly rate of $30.90.
The teacher must be able to hold the form of the afternoon with warmth and care; aided by an assistant teacher. After lunch together, the children are toileted/diapered and tucked in for their afternoon nap or rest. Afterwards, the children enjoy play time, usually outside, until 3:00 pm and then inside the classroom until 5:00 pm for those who stay the entire day.
Qualifications:
- Early childhood education teaching experience
- 12 semester units, or equivalent quarter units, of early childhood education or child development core classes from an accredited college, university or occupational program, earned or in process;
- Lifeways or Waldorf experience/training ideal.

Physical Requirements for Employees at SWSF:
Summerfield is both a school and farm. Though we do have paved pathways between various buildings, many pathways are unpaved and rough. Some have steep inclines and declines, steps and holes.
- Employees must have the ability to:
- Stand and walk on various-density and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time and significant lengths.
- Sit for extended periods of time, both in chairs and on the floor.
- Squat, stoop and/or bend over.
- Reach overhead, grasp, push/pull up to 35 pounds for short distances.
