Farm to Feast is Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm’s annual, signature, springtime event.

May 21, 2022, had finally arrived! It was time for Summerfield’s 16th Annual Farm to Feast, and the day could not have been more beautiful. It was warm, the sun was shining, and the Farm, in all its splendor, was ready to receive our guests.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine, wood-fired pizzas, an oyster bar, bountiful charcuterie displays and fine artisanal chocolates. Libations by Summerfield vintners and tasting partners were flowing. Lovely flower arrangements dotted the tables, with garlands hanging from the walnut tree. A charming on-site boutique was created, featuring local artisan items on display, ranging from student art to outstanding class projects. Guests also enjoyed live music by one of our incredibly talented alumni, David Luning.

This year we returned to dinner tables covered with white linens, under the walnut tree. The seasonal meal featured Mediterranean inspired ingredients. It was prepared by outstanding chefs who are all parents here at Summerfield, and it was served family style.

As we enjoyed an exceptional meal and conversation, it was very clear that we were all so happy to be together again.

Khalid Halim, our Board President, gave us a warm welcome. He reminded us all of the great and charitable spirit of this community. We are more optimistic than ever about our future, and we certainly have much to be grateful for.

Alumna Maria Onorato spoke to us about her experience here at Summerfield. She told us how her education greatly shaped her future, not only professionally but personally.

With touching stories from her time with students and her own family, Summerfield faculty member Kate MacKillop spoke as well. She shared the gifts of a Waldorf education, reminding us that it is, indeed, for every child.

 

Farm to Feast Speakers

 

Auctioneer Kenn Cunningham led us in a fun live auction and dinner ask, empowering us to reach our fundraising goal, further exemplifying the care and commitment of our school community and all of those that attended this important event.

Delicious dessert and warm coffee under the string-lit walnut tree provided a beautiful ambience as we grooved to the sounds of DJ Domo. Many gathered around the bonfire, sharing stories, connecting with old friends and new ones, all celebrating the opportunity to come together again and support this very special place, Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm.

Summerfield’s Farm to Feast 2022 was a great success, raising $200,000 thanks to all of those that participated including ticket sales, sponsorship, live and online auctions, and the dinner ask. Above all, we are humbled at the generosity that lives within our community, and we are beyond grateful to be a part of it.
